Dr. Sacks earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree in kinesiology from the University of California at Los Angeles, followed by his medical degree from the same institution. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the Los Angeles County Olive View UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
He is currently in the private practice of ophthalmic surgery in affiliation with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Olympia Medical Center, both in Los Angeles.
