Bio
Dr. Iswara completed his undergraduate and Medical education in Sri Lanka before finishing his Internship and junior year of Residency at the Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. He completed his senior year of Residency in Internal Medicine at the VA Hospital, Bronx, NY and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Iswara has received several awards for his teaching and social work and was also on active duty with the US Army during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. He served as Director of Gastroenterology at Maimonides Medical Center for a two year period and continues to be the Director of Advanced Endoscopy in Gastroenterology at the same Medical Center since 2011.
He was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, SUNY, Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY 1978 to 2005 and is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He has published extensively.
