Dr. Mahendra graduated from the Medical College at the University of Ceylon in Sri Lanka and completed an internship at North General Hospital, Sri Lanka. After moving to The United States he completed an internship at St. Luke’s Hospital, Newburgh, NY and residencies in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Texas Heart Institute in Houston.

He maintains a private practice specializing in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in Lancaster, CA in affiliation with Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center and Lancaster Community Hospital.
