Dr. Varma earned a bachelor’s degree cum laude from Duke University, Durham, NC and a medical degree from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the same institution. After three years of practicing pediatrics first in the San Diego area and then Atlanta, she moved to Thailand and served as a volunteer with the Bangkok Mothers and Babies International (BAMBI), specializing in treating tuberculosis in the nation’s refugee camps on behalf of the International Organization for Migration. She also practiced in Hanoi, Vietnam and Beijing, China.
Since 2011 she has been in the private practice of pediatrics in New York City.
