Dr. Gallivan obtained his bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and his medical degree from the Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed an internship in general surgery at Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara, CA, and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Thomas Jefferson Hospital/Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his fellowship in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Institute, Wilmington, DE.
Since 1996, Dr. Gallivan has been in private practice in affiliation with Cottage Hospital. He is a member of several professional societies.
