Dr. Kurtz obtained his undergraduate degree from Emory University, Atlanta, GA and his M.D. from the Medical School of South Carolina at Charleston, SC He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA and continued as a clinical instructor for a year in the Department of Medicine at the same Medical Center and for another year at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. Kurtz continues to be an Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center but in addition has the distinction of being the Clinical Chief of the Department of Medicine. He is highly active in the administration of the Medical center and the Department of Medicine and is thus a member of numerous committees.
